You spend lots of money for those baby clothes, only for that special little someone to outgrow them in a few weeks, so then you you have to go out again and purchase even more clothing. Before you know it, you have a cupboard full of clothing that has hardly been used and is now too small for your baby. What now you ask, Store them in the attic? Well you need to ask yourself first of all if you plan on having any more children in the future, because if you are then keeping as much as you can is your best option. There’s no point selling/giving away the clothes at a percentage of its retail value only to have to buy more again in a few years.
If you have no need for the clothes as they are, consider donating them to refuge centres or charity stores. This helps the charity and also any parents that can’t afford to pay full price for baby clothes. If you know of any friends or family that are having some difficulty with money you can always pop over and offer some of your baby’s old clothes to them.
Another option that has stood the test of time is that when mothers don’t want to give away the clothes that so many memories were made with they pick up a snowing kit and make a quilt. You can find countless articles on how to go about making a quilt that looks professional which also isn’t too hard to make. Parents also use some of the old clothes to dress the baby’s toy bears and other stuffed animals.
There are also companies that will buy used clothing by the kilo; they give a set amount of money per kilo of material. You won’t get much but it’s definitely better than just throwing the clothing out.
One of the most popular options on how to deal with all those baby clothes is to sell them; you can do this by posting on your facebook page or listing your clothes on auction sites, though only items that are new or as new will sell on auction sites. Make sure to take good pictures of the item and list the size in the description. You can tap into your social circles and tell them you have a whole bunch of clothing for sale if you know anyone that would want them.
In reality most people will use a combination of these options to clear the baby clothes. The like new items of clothing will probably go up for sale, those that are in the middle that you think friends and family might appreciate can be given or sold to them, some of the clothes can be used for the quilt and the rest will go to charity shops.
